Thirty-plus years. Hundreds of bears. One exclusive area.
At Canada North Lodge, bear hunting is a yearly tradition. We pride ourselves on providing one of the best hunts available, and our 30+ years of commitment, experience, and history of happy hunters speaks for itself.
The Black Bear population in our exclusive Bear Management Area is excellent and has never been over-hunted. The BMA encompasses 368 square kilometers and extends 25 miles north of the lodge, a large, unlimited bear-hunting opportunity, accessible by boat and vehicle.
We accommodate both bow and gun hunters. Every bear hunt is also a combination fishing & hunting package, at no additional charge.

Around 60% historical success, with a 568-pound record.
The area we hunt has a proven history of success: overall average around 60% based on our 30+ years of experience. We've had unbelievable 100% years and a few off years too, weather and overall hunting conditions play a big role in any season's results.
The average adult bear ranges between 250 and 325 pounds. Our largest, an unbelievable 568 pounds. We run both spring and fall hunts, and fall bears tend to run larger than spring bears.
This is an unguided hunt over our baited sites. After a successful hunt, we assist with getting your bear out of the field and back to the lodge. Skinning, quartering, and processing the bear is the hunter's responsibility. The hide goes in the freezer for the trip home or to the taxidermist, and we're happy to point you to a local processor if you want the meat cut, wrapped, and frozen (fee not included).
What's covered.
Your hunt includes modern cabin accommodations on the Full American Plan, daily maid service, a hearty breakfast, and a family-style dinner, with a self-catered Housekeeping option also available. You'll have a boat, motor, and gas for reaching the baited sites by water and for the fishing days between hunts, which are included at no extra charge.
We set up and maintain 30 to 40 baited sites about two weeks before you arrive and check them daily for activity, with hit history available. This is an unguided hunt over those sites, we don't provide guides. After a successful hunt we assist with getting your bear out of the field and back to the lodge. Skinning, quartering, and processing the bear is the hunter's responsibility, though we're glad to recommend a local processor (fee not included).
You bring: clothing, gun and ammo, rod and reel, and personal items. Leave the rest to us.
Two ways to book the bear hunt.
